Today we’re celebrating World Environment Day. Like many in the #timber industry, at W.Howard we work hard to promote timber as a sustainable building material that can help reduce carbon emissions and encourage environmentally conscious building practices.

Every cubic metre of MDF can hold over 1 tonne of Carbon Dioxide and because MDF is defect free, fewer waste materials are created on site during its use, helping to reduce waste to landfill and make the most of every single cm of raw material. We are also proud that our products are manufactured and distributed in the UK using raw materials that are also sourced in the UK, keeping the entire process as local as possible and minimising emissions from transportation and logistics.

All our production processes are controlled to strict standards, and we manufacture to the ISO9001 quality assurance standard. We have also achieved environmental performance standard ISO14001, and all our MDF and real wood veneers are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

We have also achieved Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) certification, which enables us to deliver into central London and reassures our customers that we have achieved exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection.
