Support community football club in memory of Dave McDonnell.

W.Howard is asking the timber industry to donate to a local community football club in memory of late-colleague Dave McDonnell. Dave was a huge supporter of Euxton Villa Football Club, based in Chorley, Lancashire, where his brother Mark is Club President. Euxton Villa was formed in 1907 and was one of the first 100 clubs in the country to become an FA Community Club. It currently has 40 teams with development groups for young people interested in football.

Euxton Villa was promoted last year, and so the club has been approached by the Football Foundation and Football Association to install a state-of-the-art 3G pitch.

This will cost approximately £1 million and the club desperately needs financial support to raise £150,000 by January 2023 to begin the work. In memory of Dave McDonnell, W.Howard has offered to match every penny of funds raised up to £75,000, so the club only needs to raise half the money before the January deadline.

W.Howard will continue to support the club going forward, and is asking everyone in the industry who knew Dave to donate whatever they can to the club in his memory. The new pitch will help Euxton Villa transform their home into a modern community hub where people can come together to play football, and where the club can provide much-needed support to those who need it all year round.

Jonathan Grant, Chief Executive of W.Howard, said: “Dave made many lifelong friends in the timber industry and is sorely missed. His passion for Euxton Villa Football Club was legendary and we are honoured to continue to support the club in his memory. We are asking anyone in the timber sector who can help to give what they can to support the club that meant so much to him.”
