The W.Howard Group has recently gained a Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) accreditation meaning that it has demonstrated high environmental and health and safety requirements. The standard also enables the Group to deliver into central London.

The Group, which has 11 HGV's and 2 vans at two of its four UK and Irish operating centres, has gained the bronze standard across its depots in Manchester and London. It does not operate transport directly out of its Powys and Kildare sites.

To gain the accreditation, W.Howard had to demonstrate its dedication to driver and vehicle safety as well as improving operating practices through the effective monitoring of fuel and tyre usage. The benefits to customers are that they will be able to deal with W.Howard directly for site deliveries requesting FORS accreditation rather than indirectly, and be assured that the business is a safer and more accountable operation that is proactive in reducing its carbon footprint and on the road risk.

W.Howard now joins over 4500 other businesses nationwide within the voluntary accreditation scheme that promotes best practice for commercial vehicle operators.

Speaking about the benefits that it will bring the business and its customers, W.Howard's group logistics manager, Steve Greenhalgh said: "Our accreditation with FORS means that we meet strict standards of safety, efficiency, and environmental protection whilst also being able to access central London and expand our operations within this area. So it's a win-win for both the business and our customers.

"Well done to all members of the logistics team who have worked hard to achieve this accreditation."
